Small Class Sizes

Every Child Known and Valued

Unlike many private schools in Albuquerque, Cross of Hope intentionally keeps class sizes small so that every child is truly known and valued. In our cozy classrooms, teachers build strong relationships with each student and understand their unique personality, strengths, and needs.

Your child won’t get lost in the crowd here—teachers greet each student by name, listen to their stories, and make them feel important every day. This close-knit environment helps children feel comfortable and confident. They participate more, ask questions freely, and form close friendships, all because they know they are seen and cared for as individuals.

Personalized Support and Challenge

Small class sizes allow our teachers to tailor instruction to each child. If a student is struggling with a concept, the teacher can quickly notice and provide one-on-one help; if a student is excelling, we offer extra challenges or enrichment to keep them engaged.

Lessons are often adapted on the fly to match the learning pace of the class, and teachers can use different approaches to reach different learning styles. Every student gets the right level of support and challenge to help them grow. In this kind of setting, children are less likely to fall behind and more likely to stay motivated, because the teaching meets them where they are. Our goal is for each child to be both supported and appropriately challenged so they can achieve their God-given potential.

  • Timely one-on-one support when concepts are challenging
  • Enrichment and extension activities for advanced learners
  • Flexible pacing and varied teaching methods for different learning styles

Big Benefits of a Small Classroom

There are huge benefits to learning in a small-class environment. Every student has more opportunities to participate—each child gets to answer questions, read aloud, and share their ideas regularly, which builds confidence and communication skills.

Students in small classes often feel like a family; they encourage one another and celebrate each other’s accomplishments. Teachers have the time to incorporate fun projects, class discussions, and hands-on activities that might be difficult to manage in a large class. The result is a richer educational experience. Parents often tell us that our intimate class sizes are one of their favorite things about Cross of Hope, because they can see how much individual attention and care their children receive daily.
