Weekly Specials
Music, Art, and Creativity
Our weekly “specials” classes introduce students to the joys of music and art as part of their regular schedule. In music class, children sing, play simple instruments, and learn about rhythm and melody—activities that build listening skills and let them express themselves. Art classes allow students to experiment with drawing, painting, and craft projects, encouraging creativity and fine motor skills.
These creative outlets are a fun break from core academics and help kids discover new talents. By participating in music and art each week, students gain confidence in self-expression and an appreciation for the arts.
Library and Technology
Library time is another special part of our week. Students visit the school library to hear stories, explore books, and develop a love of reading that goes beyond their normal language arts lessons. Checking out books and engaging in library activities nurtures imagination and literacy in an enjoyable setting.
We also offer a weekly computer/technology class, giving children a chance to practice basic tech skills in a guided environment. Under teacher supervision, students learn to use educational software, practice typing, and safely navigate beginner-friendly programs. These library and tech specials round out our curriculum by promoting information skills and digital literacy even in the early grades.
Physical Education and Future Specials
Physical Education (PE) is a weekly favorite that lets kids get moving and learn about fitness and teamwork. In PE class, students play games and do exercises that develop their coordination, strength, and sportsmanship. They have fun being active while also learning healthy habits and how to work together.
As our school continues to grow, we plan to expand our specials offerings even further. We regularly evaluate new subjects or activities—for example, adding a foreign language or drama club—to enrich our students’ education. Our goal is to provide an evolving array of specials so that children receive a truly well-rounded experience, with opportunities to explore many interests beyond the core classroom subjects.
